A perennial cool-season legume that is suitable for hay, haylage, silage, or pasture. Plants feature an erect growth habit from a single crown and a long taproot, which delivers excellent performance under drought conditions. Grazing-types feature a lower crown height and, as a result, are less likely to be damaged by livestock. Alfalfa comes in a wide range of dormancies and disease packages, so care should be used in selecting the proper variety to produce top quality alfalfa hay. You can blend alfalfa with orchardgrass seed for higher yields. Alfalfa may cause bloat.
The 90 parent plants of EXTREME HD were selected phenotypically based on high forage yield, high forage quality, good winter survival and the absence of root and crown diseases
EXTREME HD has high resistance to Anthracnose (race 1), Bacterial wilt, Fusarium wilt, Verticillium wilt, Phytophthora root rot, and Aphanomyces root rot (race 1).
EXTREME HD is a Fall Dormancy 4 alfalfa.
Bred in Canada for the harsh Canadian environment AC® Dalton provides superior yield potential in all crop zones especially under irrigation and higher moisture regions where maximum productivity is wanted. A top performer in British Columbian trials
A perennial cool-season bunch grass that is used for hay and grazing pastures. It is more shade tolerant than most other forage grasses, but is less tolerant to continuous grazing than ryegrass or fescue. Excellent for use in mixtures with other grasses and legumes. Orchardgrass is an excellent choice for horse pasture mixes, as it typically is lower in water soluble carbohydrates.
Top yielder wherever orchardgrass is grown in British Columbia. Crown Royale was bred primarily for quick re-growth and disease-free foliage. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for grazing or hay. It offers superior performance over a wide range of climates and latitudes. Crown Royale has demonstrated remarkable cold tolerance in Canada. It has also shown outstanding forage yield performance from the Northwest to the Southeast. It shows a maturity range similar to that of Pennlate and
Quick Draw Orchardgrass was selected for its quick regrowth, superior yields, disease resistance, and palatability. It has shown higher levels of water soluble carbohydrates than other orchardgrasses. This makes Quick Draw much more palatable and drought tolerant. These traits also enable it to survive some of the harshest summers. Quick Draw performs well in mixes with other forage species and is an excellent choice for all forage uses. Quick Draw is a High Sugar Grass
